The Director: Chachi Ramirez

Chachi Ramirez is a filmmaker, director, and producer who somehow traded Hollywood traffic for Central Coast sunsets—and never looked back. After two decades working on award-winning projects in Los Angeles, Chachi now runs Suede & Pomade, a production company based on California’s Central Coast, bringing big-city experience and cinematic polish to clients and stories across the globe. From branded content and documentaries to immersive, cinematic storytelling, his work blends craft, heart, and just enough grit to keep things interesting.

Raised in a small town at the southernmost tip of Texas, Chachi grew up hanging around TV studios thanks to his father, an NBC News broadcaster—learning early that stories matter, cameras are magic, and deadlines are real. After high school, he headed west to Santa Cruz, cutting his teeth as a freelance photographer and videographer before demand pulled him into Los Angeles. There, he produced independent films, led production teams, and collaborated on groundbreaking projects—including serving as a documentarian on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Oscar-winning virtual reality installation Carne y Arena.

Today, Chachi has brought that experience home to the Central Coast, directing films for clients around the world while also focusing on deeply personal storytelling. He has recently completed three feature documentaries slated for film festival screenings in 2026—projects rooted in history, community, and place.

When he’s not behind a camera or in an edit bay, you’ll likely find him restoring his 1975 Datsun 280z, exploring the backroads of San Luis Obispo County, or doing all of the above with his daughter Isla Rose riding shotgun.
